Exactly 50 years ago this summer, between junior and senior high schools, I tried to read Atlas Shrugged. I was naive, and in a youthful libertarian phase. About half way through I gave up. It wasn't because of the "odious ideology" of Ayn Rand. It was because I could not believe that Americans could be so driven by greed and covetousness. (I DID say I was naive.) In rereading it, all the way this time, I found myself matching current politicians with characters in the book.
