Former [abortion] clinic director: "Church chilly to my pro-life turn"

Former clinic director: Church chilly to my pro-life turn
Now feels unwelcome among Episcopalians

Abby Johnson, the former Planned Parenthood clinic director whose about-face on abortion prompted her to resign her job, says she's gotten flack for her decision from an unexpected quarter: her own church.

Read it all.

One of the things I've been told is that as Episcopalians, we embrace our differences and disagreements.

What Ms. Johnson does not realize it that Episcopal "tolerance" only exists regarding trivial areas - i.e. "Mass" vs "Holy Communion".

The right of a woman to abort a child is not one of those areas. The Episcopal Church leadership (and, unfortunately, quite a few of the rand and file) are adamant about that.

She will find no welcome for her stance from the bulk of Episcopalians. I'm afraid she will be forced to leave eventually. But that would be a good thing for her spiritually.

This serves to highlight the hypocrisy of the Episcopal left, as if we needed any more examples of that hypocrisy.

i find the reactions of the two local congregations - "You can't be a member here because you once worked for Planned Parenthood" - absolutely appalling and just as hypocritical as the attitude of the members of St. Francis Episcopal. What ever happened to repentance and forgiveness? How is the reaction of those two congregations even remotely Christlike?

Abby Johnson's story shows just how far from classic Christianity most so-called Christian congregations are these days.
